VII Annual CIBER-BBN Conference

On the 21st and 22nd of November, the 7th Annual CIBER-BBN (Biomedical Research Networking Center in Bioengineering, Biomaterials and Nanomedicine) conference took place in Torremolinos, Malaga. This conference like previous conferences served as a way for consortium members to become up to date with ongoing projects and also to improve networking. More than 150 investigators from 47 research groups came together for this annual event.

The conference also brought together international experts in the field such as Ruth Duncan, an expert in the field of nanomedicine who develops her work at the University of Cardiff; Niilo Saranummi , VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland; Roger Kamm, Massachusetts Institute of Technology; James Kirkpatrick, Johannes Gutenberg University; and Adolfo Mário Barbosa, Universidade do Porto among others.

The Nanobiotechnology for Diagnostics Group actively participates in these conferences and this year was no exception. Dr. Lorena Garcia, representing the group and under the bracket of the Nanomedicine area presented the work of OligoCODEs project whose aim is the development of a universal in vitro diagnostic platform for multimodal multiplexed biomarker analysis independent from the chemical nature (peptide, protein, DNA, RNA, etc) of the biomarker, using the same chip and sensor technology and biofunctionalized nanoparticles.. Various posters of the group were also exhibited throughout the conference.
