Electrochemical biosensors have several advantages such as being portable, cosuming lower power, lower prices etc. but are often weak in simultaneous multiplexing detection. The possibility of using electrochemical nanoprobe-based biosensors with different configurations can allow for the implementation of multiplexed devices for use as point-of-care systems. We have compiled a review of electrochemical metallic-nanoprobes (electroactive metallic-nanoparticles chemically modified with a specific biological element) for application in electrochemical biosensing.
